If you just go around
and have a look,
you could see…
It's a kind of wild dream out there,
with borrowed life
for half-time breath
and sorrow
at almost all floors,
buildings to fall off
and unyielding stones,
kids licking the walls
and one-days butterflies.
Sometimes, even the sun's hiding,
even the birds are drowning
in a huge deep black sea,
even the lakes are setting aflame…
Yes, it's wild out there.
So many things could testify,
from the broken windows
to the dead elms.
Bad times for the dreams, you know,
bad times...
-
And if you just go,
I'm not so sure…
I'm no more sure at all
that all the white hopes,
that all the still enlightened fires,
all the best wishes
will not be frozen in a glimpse.
There's not so many shelters
in the neighborhood,
and when it's not the sun,
it's the cold,
and when it's not a fight,
it's a fall.
Shoulders aren't much more,
to peacefully fall asleep upon them,
to finally give ourselves away,
and share some strength.
So… you can go…
You can...
-
Otherwise,
you can come closer,
in within sight,
in within reach of my whispers,
at least, enough to be grazed,
maybe to be touched,
as long as we stand together
to watch the fires shutting down,
feel the rumbling murmur of the daylight,
release from our hands
all the strings we've ever held
and all the dead weights.
Maybe, sometimes,
the storm will blow here too,
maybe the lightning
will strike.
I cannot promise.
Neither you, too.
But I believe and I trust.
Not every second,
not every minute,
‘cos I can't, but I try, be sure.
So, perhaps you can come…
we will trample down the ground,
we will breathe the same air,
we will hold the years,
we will stop to end in fire
and escape that dream.
